Magnus Purple Coneflower
A classic perennial that has been grown in gardens for years. The cultivar, Magnus, has large, rosy purple flowers with dark orange centers, and its petals lie flat rather than drooping. Magnus is an early bloomer and has a shorter stature than other coneflowers.
This cultivar has all the attributes of coneflowers: drought resistance, attractive to pollinators but not deer, and seed heads that provide food for songbirds. Deadhead to encourage re-bloom. 1998 Perennial Plant of the Year.
Full sun. Height 2.5-3′. Spread 1-1.5′. Zones 3-8.
