Symphyotrichum georgianum
$12.00
Georgia’s Blue Aster
Recommended by a very discerning gardener for its welcomed contribution to the fall garden with its super-sized, 2″ violet-blue flowers.
Native to pineland and savanna ecosystems in Georgia, Alabama, northern Florida, and North and South Carolina, it’s not widely distributed in those areas and is listed as an endangered species in some of these states. Consider planting S. georgianum for conservation reasons as well!
Full sun. Height 1.5-3′. Spread 3-4′. Well-drained soils; no wet feet. Zones 3-9.
Special note: The colors on the two photos have not been changed. In different light Georgia’s Blue Aster may look blue or violet. Cooler temperatures and softer light appear to bring out more of the blue.
4.5″ pot
