Ramie is a textile plant that has been prized and valued for over 3,000 years (mummy cloth in Egypt). The silky, flax-like fiber is harvested from the inner bark of stems. Ramie is very durable and of high quality and can be used in textiles, canvas, paper, and rope.

A shrub-like plant that develops woody, unbranched stems with green ovate leaves and has tiny greenish flowers in summer.
