Silphium terabinthinacem ssp. lyciae-brauniae
$12.00
Lucy Braun’s Rosinweed
Discovered in the prairies and meadows of midwestern US, Lucy Braun is similar to the straight species with its sunny, starry, yellow flowers but has flower stalks 3-5′ tall rather than the typical 5-8′, the leaves are large, paddle shaped and smooth rather than sand paper-like, and the roots are slightly stoloniferous with less of a taproot. All of these differences give your garden added design options and greater genetic variety.
Silphiums are an important nectar source for bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Fun fact: Silphium’s sticky resin was used by Native Americans as a glue in toolmaking as well as for medicinal purposes. Cool!
Full-part sun. Height 3-6′. Spread 3′. Zones 4-8.
Tall 4″ pot
