Silphium asteriscus var. trifoliatum

Whorled Rosinweed

Clean, dark, almost glossy leaves are upright and supportive of an abundance of rich yellow flowers summer to fall. The whole plant has a tidy and upright stature about it.

Butterflies, bees, skipper moths, nectar loving insects, and birds flock to it. Silphiums are a great food source for desireable wildlife. Leaving the seedheads up will feed the birds in fall and winter and the hollow stalks give native bees a safe place to overwinter.
