Gaining the common name from the misty appearance the lavender to light blue fringed flowers create as they cover the mountainous regions of eastern and central US. Miami refers to the Native American people of the Miami tribe of north-central Indiana.

Flowers bloom early to late spring and is also referred to as “Bee friend” phacelia as it is highly attractive to bees and other insects due to its large amounts of nectar and pollen.

Plant en masse for naturalizing in borders where it out-competes weeds with its deep root system reducing the need for mulch. Best in well-drained soils. An excellent naturalizer over time when allowed to set seed.

Part shade. Height 12-24″. Spread 6-12″ with upright to sprawling growth. Biennial.
