Broad-Leafed Sedge
Dense clumps of broad, arching lime-green leaves have a pleated texture, providing the perfect complement to shade flowers and foliage. Subtle purple-brown flower spikes emerge in spring. Leaf sheaths have a striking maroon color.
This native sedge spreads underground via rhizomes to form colonies in a wide range of soils, even dry shade! Good for erosion control. Cut back in later winter. All sedges serve as forage for local wild birds and insects.
Full-part shade. Height 6-8″. Spread 10-12″. Deer and drought tolerant. NATIVE. Zones 4-8.
