A native gem that has a quiet, unassuming presence but still provides strength and beauty in the garden. Lavender-blue flowers sparkle in late spring to early summer attracting numerous native bees.
Tidy clumps of green leaves have attractive purple edging. Best massed along border fronts or in a woodland garden where it naturalizes companionably with its native neighbors–Meehan’s Mint, Golden Star, Foam Flower, and varieties of phlox.
Filtered shade. Height and Spread 1-2′. Native from New York to Georgia. Deer resistant. Zones 4-9.
