Zig Zag Goldenrod

There’s a goldenrod out there for everyone and this one could be your ticket. Tolerant of deep shade, clay soils and deer it offers height to the shade garden and color to a woodland setting while being an important larval host for numerous moths, including Wavy-Lined Emerald and Green Leuconycta, Zig Zag Goldenrod has clusters of sunny yellow flowers at stem ends for the bees and butterflies in late summer to fall. Leaves “zig and zag” up the stem to complete the look.

Self-seeds, so ideally suited for large meadowy, native gardens with dappled sun. Native to eastern US.
