Assam Indigo/Chinese Rain Bell
Beautiful dye plant whose leaves and stems produce a blue dye. Assam Indigo was once used extensively in China and India. A fountain-like, small shrub with bright pink tubular flowers that bloom in late fall on branched stems amongst dark green, leathery leaves.
Both useful and lovely, it looks wonderful in the dye garden, borders, and containers. Native to eastern Asia. Used for medicinal purposes in traditional Chinese medicine.
Part shade. Height & Spread 3-5′. Annual or easily overwinter plant indoors.
