Marginal Wood Fern
Elegant, vase-shaped native evergreen fern with grayish-green leathery fronds, 15-20″ long, 10″ wide. In spring, golden brown, furry fiddleheads appear in a circle. An excellent fern that is non-spreading and grows amiably with all its neighbors–purple heucheras, hostas, and woodland wildflowers.
Tolerates heavy shade so amenable to any section of the woodland garden, but avoid direct sunlight. Evergreen fronds provide good winter interest. Native to northeastern US where it grows in dry, rock sites, thus excellent drought tolerance.
Full-part shade. Height and Spread 1.5-2′. Deer and rabbit resistant. Zones 3-8.
4.5″ pot
