Barbara’s Buttons

It’s easy to see why another common name for this eastern to central US native is “Puffballs.” Puffy balls of fragrance are born on grassy green stems April-May offering nectar to our early season pollinators after a long winter’s nap.

The remainder of the season an occasional flower will bloom and the plants form sweet mounds of long, narrow foliage. Good drainage needed.
