Purple Love Grass
Renowned garden designer, Piet Oudolf, includes this native grass as one of his “100 must-have plants” and we agree! Blue-green, grassy mounds in spring become rosy-purple seed clouds in summer followed by beige seed heads and a bronze patina in fall.
A multi-purpose plant, that works as an accent, groundcover, or in mass plantings and is a terrific companion to all sorts of flowering natives. Cut back in early spring for new growth. Tolerates dry, sandy, gravelly soil, but not wet, heavy soils.
Full sun. Height 2′. Spread 1-2′. Drought tolerant. Good for erosion control. Zones 5-9.
