Heuchera villosa

Native Alum Root

Slightly smaller and less fuzzy than the big root heuchera, this alum root gives a whole other feel in the garden. Slightly shiny, medium green maple-like leaves form mounds of attractive foliage in full to part shade. This eastern US native blooms in late summer to fall with full panicles of creamy white flowers attracting hummingbirds and diminutive bees while lending an ethereal feel to the garden.

Lovely en masse and can be used as a groundcover.

Full-part shade. Height and spread 12-18″. Average to moist soils with good drainage. Heat and humidity tolerant. Deer resistant. Zones 3-8.
