In spring, new fronds on this fabulous fern emerge a bright copper-red shade, contrasting nicely with the mature, dark green fronds. As the season progresses, the clump-forming, arching fronds will mature to dark green.
Valued for its adaptability and easy-care, this fern is gorgeous anywhere in the woodland garden–in drifts, as an accent, or as backdrop to flowering shade plants. Not a fast grower or spreader so ideal for smaller spaces. Will even tolerate clay soil as long as it’s consistently moist. Award of Garden Merit.
Full-part shade. Height and Spread 1.5-2.5′. Deer and rabbit resistant. Drought tolerant once established. Zones 5-8.
