Black Adder Anise Hyssop

Licorice-scented leaves, long floral display, and wands and wands of flowers. This plant is hummingbird candy! They love it! The nectar is also beneficial to bees and butterflies. Black adder is noted for its long bloom time from summer to frost of tubular, 2-lipped, smoky red-violet flowers that bloom in showy, bottle-brush, terminal spikes 6-8” long. Flower buds are nearly black.

Full sun. Good drainage. Height and spread 2-3’. Deer resistant. A cross between A. rugosum and A. foeniculum. As with all agastache, leave leaf and flower stems up all winter for extra protection. Zones 6-9.
