Heartleaf Golden Alexanders
Golden 4-6″ globes of nectar-rich yellow flowers bloom late spring to early summer attracting pollinators and brightening the early summer garden. Deep green heart-shaped foliage adds a rich, cool color to the full or part-sun garden.
Native to the southeastern US and a host plant for the black swallowtail butterfly. Z. aurea has compound basal leaves and prefers wetter locations as compared to Z. aptera.
Full-part sun. Height 1.5-3′. Spread 1.5-2′. Deer resistant. Good cut flower. Zones 3-8.
