Cream Violet
We were asked to grow this violet for a very special project that was creating a native woodland garden. It was new to us at the time. How pleasantly surprised I was when I finally got to see it flourishing in the intended garden. Instead of growing in a short tuft like V. soraria, it grows more upright and full. The flowers dance happily above and around the deep green foliage. I was and still am quite taken with it! It’s a worthy garden plant in my opinion. It will spread by seed so its role is best as a ground cover or naturalizer. Bloom time is April through June.
As with other native violas this violet supports the Fritillary butterflies larvae and specialized miner bees.
