Viola riviniana purpurea

Purple Leaf Dog Violet/Labrador Violet
Purple flowers bloom early spring through summer over attractive purple foliage. Plants spread by root and seed and make a nice low-maintenance, low-growing, weed-barring groundcover for shade. Extra plants are easily transplanted. There has been some confusion in the trade as to whether this is V. labradorica or V. riviniana. Either way, it is a useful and pretty plant.
Full-part shade. Average to moist soils. Drought tolerant, but will go somewhat dormant if overly dry. Height 3-4″. Zones 3-8.
2.5″ pot
