Here’s a salvia that’s highly valued for its ornamental and medicinal properties. Whorled flower stems hold pretty lavender flowers with dark purple calyxes that bloom for an extra long time atop deep green, attractive foliage.

(Red) roots have been used as a Chinese herbal medicine for thousands of years to promote blood flow and heart health. Native to China and Japan in grassy areas of hillsides and forests.
