Allium canadense
$6.00
Wild Garlic
A native edible! Top-set “bulbils” are creamy green to maroon in color and open to reveal starbursts of light pink, starry flowers all through late spring and summer. Vital seasoning and medicinal plant for Indigenous peoples and early settlers (but not our pets).
Narrow, grassy green leaves along with the “oniony” flavor make this allium deer and rabbit resistant. Versatile plant that thrives in full sun and most soil types except wet. Naturalizes via bulb offsets. Important host plant to smaller bee populations.
Full sun-part shade. Height 18″. Zones 3-8.
2.5″ pot
