Allium stellatum Seeds
$5.00
Prairie Onion
Here at the nursery, we thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated this native allium during the hot, dry summer. Similar to its cousin, A. cernuum with its slender, grasslike leaves, A. stellatum‘s rose-pink flower clusters grow more upright and erect, blooming in the hottest months of summer.
At home in any sunny, dry border or garden where there is no competition from aggressive native grasses. Exceptionally drought tolerant. A stellatum is edible but has a pungent taste and smell making it unpalatable to deer and rabbits. May naturalize via self-seeding and bulb offsets.
Full-part sun. Height 1-1.5′. Spread 6-12″. Zones 3-8.
