Viola sororia f. rubra
$10.00
Missouri Violet
This form of the more common native blue violet has flowers that are more red than purple. (That’s a lot of different colors in one sentence. The common blue violet is actually purple and violet refers to the plant not a color… just in case it was all confusing.) It can be very fun and entertaining to collect the different color forms while using them to fill in as a groundcover in shady gardens, difficult-to-establish lawns, and naturalized areas. As a bonus, all variations of Viola sororia are a host plant for a number of different Fritillary butterflies.
Full-part shade. Height 6″. Spread 8″. Native. Zones 3-9.
4.5″ pot
