Wild Ginger

A lovely native groundcover for the shade, perfect for a woodland setting. Produces 2-4″, soft green, heart-shaped leaves. In spring curious, cup-shaped, mauve-purple flowers appear under the foliage. Rhizomes, leaves, and stems have ginger-like aroma. Leaves stay in good condition all season, so ideal to pair with spring-flowering plants that go dormant. Excellent companion plant to ferns and columbine. The second picture shown is Wild Ginger displaying some very interesting and attractive fall color.

Full-part shade. Height 6-12″. Spread 1-1.5′. Toxic if eaten. Zones 3-8.

4.5″ pot
