Balloon Flower
This long-lived, easy-care perennial gets its name from the flower buds that resemble inflated balloons. Flower petals “pop” open from the top to reveal 3” purple flowers. (Fun for kids and adults). Pop Star Blue is very short, reaching only 6″ or so. Bloom time is long and vigorous–July to late September. Plants are drought tolerant, deer resistant and make an excellent cut flower.
Full sun. Height 6″. Spread 6-8”. Breaks dormancy late in spring. Zones 3-7.
