It’s easy to see why another common name for this eastern to central US native is “Puffballs.”

Puffy balls of fragrance are born on grassy green stems April-May offering nectar to our early season pollinators after a long winter’s nap.

The remainder of the season an occasional flower will bloom, and the plants form a sweet mound of long narrow foliage.
