Habranthus tubispathus var. texensis

Copper Lily
After a good rainfall, you are in for a treat. Yellow-orange lily-flowers with streaks of bronze bloom first followed by narrow allium-like green leaves. Will self-seed and spread by bulblets to form colonies in tough, sunny areas where only well-drained soil is needed.
Expect this pumpkin-spice treat as a harbinger of fall. Native to South America; naturalized in Texas and Louisiana and, we suspect, anywhere we humans scatter the seed to enjoy its delicious beauty. Our seed came from friend and garden designer, Mary Jane Baker.
Full sun. Height 6-12″. Zones 7-10.
3.5″ pot
