Considered one of the best native woodland groundcovers around. Forms a fast-spreading (not clumping like its cousin C. virginianum), evergreen groundcover in the woodland garden. Long purple runners; sunny yellow, starry flowers in spring; and deer resistance–what’s not to like?!
Thrives in a variety of soil types (but not too wet). First discovered in south central Georgia and introduced by Eco Gardens in 1992.
Full-part shade. Height 4″. Spread 4′ in 2 years. Deer resistant. Zones 5-10.
