Arctostaphylos uva ursi
A low shrub that grows like a groundcover. Branches forms a carpet of small, glossy, evergreen leaves. White flowers tinged pink appear in late spring followed by small scarlet fruits. Leaves turn maroon in winter. Thrives in acidic, poor soils—needs at least six hours of sun. Good for soil erosion. Full-part sun. Height 6–12”. Spread 3–6’. Native. Medicinal. Don’t fertilize. Deer resistant. Zones 2–7.
