Salvia regla ‘Royal’
Royal Mountain Sage
WOWZA! This salvia took me by surprise! What a knockout! 2”, tubular red flowers with deep red calyxes completely cover this sage late September to frost. Stems are a deep burgundy accenting the flowers and light green leaves. An important nectar plant for migrating hummingbirds. Native to the Chisos Mountains in western Texas and parts of Mexico.
Full-part sun. Upright, shrubby habit. Drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant. Height 3-6′. Spread 3-5’. Hardy to 20 degrees.
